The Royal Palace, former residence of Prussian kings, is an exceptional place, the largest museum projects in the postwar history of Wroclaw. Thanks to thorough modernization, he became a modern exhibition center of the City Museum in Wroclaw, and the seat of his branch of the Historical Museum. It is also a place for family recreation where you can spend pleasant moments in a stylish café after visiting the exhibition and you can relax on warm days in the reconstructed baroque garden.

Currently, in the restored and adapted to the requirements of a modern museum inside, the royal palace shows four permanent exhibitions, the Royal Apartments, the original Beyersdorf room and temporary exhibitions.

Permanent exhibitions in the Royal Palace:

1000 years Wroclaw - this is one of the most modern museum exhibitions in Poland, where historical heritage of the city situated on the Odra meets with the latest exhibition technology. As part of the exhibition over 3000 illustrative objects of history of Wroclaw were collected, from the early Middle Ages up to the present. Here they found things, unique and valuable. A large part of them has never been presented in Wroclaw. It is thoroughly and with a pep of complex and difficult history of Breslau told -from the founding of the diocese in 1000 until after the millennium year 2000. Attractiveness and quality of the exposition are increased by its interactivity: audio-visual means, musical background and appropriate interior design. Currently it is the most modern exhibition that documents the history of a city in Poland. The synthesis of a Central European metropolis presented here is an excellent introduction to the understanding of the history of Lower Silesia and gives a reason to explore Breslau.

Galery of Art in Wroclaw 1850-1945 - The exhibition, on the example of collected works, which are connected with Wroclaw, displays over 100 years of artistic development of schools for sculptures in Wroclaw as well as private studios for painting and sculpture. Some of the images collected here are the works of prominent artists, well known personalities in all of Europe. We can find major names for the German art of the turn of the century, e.g. Max Wislicenus, Eugen Spiro, Ludwig Meidner and Adolf Dressler. Two groups dominate the topics - the Lower Silesian mountain landscapes with massive mountains and city views. The style of work varies between the post-romantic and expressionist movements, and the nouveau-term. The majority of the images is presented for the first time in Poland.

Galery of Art in Wroclaw 1945-2000 - this is a representative selection of works of the most ambitious post-war artists of Wroclaw who decided during the last half century about the appearance of modern painting and sculpture, even in graphics, glass and ceramics in Wroclaw. For the first time the Art of Wroclaw was collected in one place and systematized, where it found its permanent exhibition space in especially for this purpose designed interiors. This gallery is characterized by diversity of artistic forms, characterized by the creativity of the people in Wroclaw. Works by colorists, landscape painters or expressionist complete the excellent work of glassmakers and potters. Among the works exhibited you can find giants of the art as: Eugeniusz Geppert, Eugeniusz Get-Stankiewicz, Maria Dawska, Józef Hałas and many others.

Galery of Polish Painting - Part of the collection of Polish painting, especially from the 19th century, is the gift of Dr. Halina Lewicka - from a prominent family of Lviv art collectors, for years living in London - to the museum. We find outstanding personalities of the Polish painting: Axentowicz, Holler, Kossak, Rozwadowski and many others.

Royal chambers - A complex of six apartments of the once here living rulers of Prussia. Based on pictures of the archive and descriptions of the chambers, they were carefully restored and completed by furnishing and through historical paintings.

Beyersdorf' Room - This is the second so well-preserved residential interiors of Baroque times in the capital of Lower Silesia. It comes from a rented house of a merchant, which was located on Salt Square (plac Solny). Its design was created by artists around Wroclaw about 1730. Since 1939 it is located in the Castle Museum in the Royal Palace. After a thorough maintenance it is again presented to the public. The preserved to this day decoration of this room consists of allegorical paintings, which complement is impressive, and at the same time from the largest collection of ceramic tiles in Silesia in Delphi's style with a characteristic blue color.

Baroque garden - reconstructed on the basis of graphics and Baroque engravings. The garden is one of the few examples of Baroque garden art in the center of a large city in Poland. Carefully selected plants complete the ancient sculptures from the old palace garden and from others - no longer existing - gardens of Lower Silesia.

Temporary exhibitions - The modern exhibition hall guarantees a pleasant view, and appropriate visibility of the artwork. In the course of a year the Royal Palace opens about five temporary exhibitions.
